Ty Wallis
DVM, MS, DACVS
Equine Surgeon & Lameness Specialist
Certified in Acupuncture

Dr. Wallis was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas.  He grew up with horses and feels privileged to be able to work with them every day.  He attended Texas A&M University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree and DVM.  During veterinary school he developed an interest in horses, specifically lameness and surgery.  To further his education after graduation, Dr. Wallis completed a one-year internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital, an equine referral hospital focusing on surgery and advanced lameness diagnosis in Edmond, Oklahoma.  He was then accepted into the Equine Surgery and Lameness Residency and combined master’s program at Colorado State University.  Dr. Wallis spent three years at CSU, where he learned cutting-edge surgical techniques from world-renowned equine surgeons, conducted research projects, and taught veterinary students about surgery and lameness in the clinical portion of the professional curriculum.  During his residency, Dr. Wallis met Dr. Paxton and Dr. Sorensen, and he began intermittently consulting with veterinarians in the Knoxville area for lameness and surgical problems.  At the completion of his residency, he moved to Louisville and has been practicing here full time for 3 years.  Dr. Wallis has passed the rigorous credentialing and examination process and achieved board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, and has also completed the training and certification for acupuncture.  His focus is on sports medicine/lameness and surgery, but he enjoys all aspects of equine practice.  In his free time he enjoys triathlon, mountain biking, playing golf, backpacking, and he aspires to become a private pilot.  Recently he got back into riding, and has enjoyed fox hunting on his new horse Abner.

Autumn Sorensen
DVM
Equine Practitioner & Farrier
Certified in Acupuncture

Dr. Sorensen was born and raised in Alaska.  She has been around and owned horses since childhood, riding horses and training for an Arab farm near her home.  She attended Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree.  She then moved to Colorado, where she obtained certification as a farrier.  She ran her own successful farrier business and trained horses for several years before going to veterinary school at Colorado State University.  At CSU she tracked large animal for her clinical rotations, with a focus in equine practice.  Upon graduation, Dr. Sorensen moved to Maryville and has been practicing in the area for 3 years.  She has quickly built up a reputation for providing excellent medical and surgical care for horses in the area, particularly emergency and intensive care cases.  She has a strong interest in reproduction and in lameness and corrective shoeing, and has completed the training and certification in acupuncture.  In her spare time she enjoys riding and training her horses (especially Penny Lane, the favorite!) in endurance, fox hunting, and eventing.  She also enjoys backpacking, and hanging out with her dog Maizie, a favorite at all the farms she visits.
